The 2009 WMRA World Trophy Race will be held at … um … I don’t know!
Steamboat Springs, CO, was awarded the event, but the bid was suddenly withdrawn the first of February. John Chapman, head of the Local Organizing Committee, lost his job due to corporate restructuring, relocated to Denver to take another job, and could not manage the enormous task from a distance. No one else could either, so the bid was withdrawn.
Or was it? Last I heard, the WMRA was still talking with Steamboat while also hoping another venue would emerge. $250,000 to put on a race is a lot of coin.

Buzz,
I think this is a good idea. I hope that people will is to blog and to read about the sport. I know that there are currently some good blogs already out there from the likes of Tony, Karl, Paul Dewitt who might be willing to just copy and psate thier posts to here (or you could set up a feed to have them post on this site everytime thier blog on thier own site.

The location for the 2009 World Trophy Race remains unknown. Steamboat Springs was interested in continuing, but without an extremely dedicated person to head up the LOC, it probably can’t happen.
Steamboat will continue to host the USATF Trail Championships in 2008 and 2009.
Boulder is working on a bid to host the World Cross Country Championships in 2010, which is a huge productions, and is an obvious possibility to host the World Trophy Race, but … but … it is totally illegal to hold any kind of race on trails in Boulder! Crazy and sad, but true. If you and 5 friends wanted to race up Flagstaff you could risk arrest.
